I think we all had the same initial reaction to this headline. Scare-mongering hysteria that doesn’t make sense.

But remember - it’s just the headline. The author of this report didn’t write it. The journalist who wrote the story didn’t even write it.

What the report actually discusses is the impact on vulnerable children from losing the social support and supervision system they get from teachers. Children who would usually be spending time with positive role-models who are trained to spot the warning signs of grooming by gangs, are instead now spending all their time in environments where they may be subject to domestic violence, neglect and mental illness.

That’s a bit harder to disagree with, right?
