Children as young as nine exposed to pornography, report warns

Elder millennial here. First time I saw a nudie mag I was 7. A neighbour had a hefty collection of Playboy magazines and even had several Playboy centrefolds framed in his TV room. This was a friend of my parents, mind you.

First time I saw softcore porn was on TV, aged 8. First time I saw hardcore porn I was 10, with a vhs making the rounds at school.

Not saying that the problem is not a thousand times worse with how ubiquitous porn on the internet is. It is a different beast altogether. But the moral panic around it is a little by hysterical tbh. You'll never be able to fully insulate your child from viewing porn or even content inappropriate for their age. That doesn't mean you shouldn't even try, of course you should. The trick here is to have an active role in what your kids are watching and consuming AND being open and have healthy communication channels with your kids to be able to address this content if they come across with it, which is very likely to happen.
