China bars millions from travel for ‘social credit’ offenses

I wish we knew the official criteria for calculating the score.

I had a shower-thought about how it could be possible to sue China for at least a portion of this system.

Under the WTO rules, once goods enter a country, they must be treated the same as any other good produced locally.

Well, rumor has it that this Chinese system will reward citizens for buying big-ticket items made in China, like a car.

So lets say there is a population of people on the cusp of losing their right to take a plane or high-speed train, and they are in the market to purchase a car.

If it can be shown that the difference between flying somewhere or having to take the slow train lays in the decision to buy a Chinese brand of car instead of German, I think it could be a violation of the WTO rules.

Of course, we need official government policy laid out on a platter to be analyzed. But just on what little information I know, it could be a decent law journal article if someone were to find more information and dig deeper.
