China spent the crucial first days of the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak arresting people who posted about it online and threatening journalists

"What's that? You're worried about the CCP buying strategic and economic assets in your country? Well, perhaps you should be less racist then!"

It isn't racist, but if you think there's something special or unusual about any given country's companies buying things up en masse somewhere, well. Globalisation has always allowed this. All the stuff that's owned or partially owned by Russia, Saudi Arabia, etc. The world isn't going to go back to the days of most things being owned locally.

Not to mention that most of these companies aren't actually doing anything that the domestic companies aren't already doing anyway. You're no safer using Tiktok than you are using Instagram or Gmail.
