You should keep in mind that this is a problem with the PRC and not necessarily everywhere with Chinese people. Taiwan is probably the place in the world that holds on to the most traditionally Chinese cultural traditions, yet it is definitely one of the most gender-equal countries. Generalizing is wrong because you are blaming this on cultural traditions without remembering a couple of things:
The “progressive” West is historically, in its traditional culture, just as awful to women as historical China. That hasn’t kept Western culture from changing over time.
The aforementioned Taiwan. Traditionally Chinese but more gender-equal than most Western countries.
