[Chinese complications] would you pay $260 for a Chinese watch with chrono and moonphase?

By long term use i was talking about a guy that said that his winding mechanism broke after 3 years.

That is long. The warranty on these watches is probably shorter, and the servicing of regularly worn complicated mechanical watches can be this low.

The movement itself cost around $100

Yes, but don't forget, that the buyers of the movements can buy different grades, and then they have to handle it, and this varies.

Someone can just buy the movement and put them in the watches as they are, or they can work on them and inspect them. The same goes for any movement really, but on the low end of the market, it may be more prominent.

If im spending $260 on a watch. Which is 2 weeks worth of work for me as a 17 y/o i want something that will last

It is a poor financial decision, but if you know what you are getting, and understand the limitations, it doesn't seem bad.

Also, the money you make now isn't really important probably, so throwing it away might not be that significant.

But, I would caution you to carefully considering the situation. The watch, and any complicated mechanical watch, and to a degree, all mechanical watches, d not have a good long term outlook. They will work until they have issues. Then you have to replace them or repair them.

This is true of the best luxury Swiss watches and the cheapest Chinese watches. They all are built more or less the same way, and the differences in manufacturing and assembly are actually very small details.

If you understand the limitations of the item and will enjoy it for the duration of its life knowing it isn't worth fixing, then it is fine, but given your age and financial situation, it may not be worth it.

Mechanical watches are not something to get if you want something to last. It is likely any mechanical watch will show significant variation and signs of degradation after regular use. A complicated watch especially is prone to this and I wouldn't expect it to work well beyond its warranty period. This is true for any complicated watch.
