The chiro lobby is weirdly powerful. I second-chaired a Medicaid provider fraud case where the defendant was a chiropractor and was suspected of fraudulent billing practices. I was maybe 6 months out of law school and found myself taking calls from extremely powerful and well-connected attorneys in my state yelling at me and asking what the fuck I thought I was doing and how I dare I put my name on these pleadings. (Those guys are doing well for themselves these days, one is a federal judge now and the other was appointed to a very prestigious state role.)
IIRC, the case went south in large part because we couldn't find an expert witness (ie, another chiropractor) who wasn't a nutjob.
