Im not sure about your situation but some gun shops will be happy to let you not just hold them but (after discussing specifically what you want to do) some will even properly let you borrow a holster of reasonably let you "try them on for size". When I was looking into pocket carry guns my local store had no problems with me putting a ruger in my pocket after we talked about it. I gave it back to him lol.

Also, this size and fit will likely determine how often you are willing and able to actually carry it. Especially for people with smaller frames. Im not an expert but my mom wants to carry and is tiny and wears scrubs so I have been looking into these things.
