Christians of Reddit, have you ever questioned God?

Yes, in every way. Why? By my culture's philosophy, I have every reason to: I've had no direct contact or unmistakable evidence of such a being, the Bible was written down (at least physically, whatever) by fallible, corruptible humans, the mainstream beliefs about Him seemingly contradict many beliefs of the popular intellectual world. Why should I not question Him? Why I believe is much more personal and complicated.

My interpretation of Christianity is different than what many Christians will adhere to. A man claiming to be the world's savior came to the masses and promised salvation in the mysterious afterlife. To obtain this, you didn't need to bow down at his feet, give him your money, or kill someone for him. You simply must believe him, and live for others as he did. Take care of the people our world, broken by corruption, greed, and hatred had pushed to the wayside. At the time this included widows, cripples, homeless, poor, diseased, and orphaned. Be selfless and make the world a better place for those who couldn't do so for themselves. He also did not place great emphasis on the "sins" of people but on their salvation. The only sins that seemed to actually anger him were greed and corruption. The rich and powerful who cared little for others. A religion without a catch. Obviously you can apply any dark interpretation to Jesus and his actions if you view it through a different, cynical lens. I, however, choose to see it through one that motivates me to make the world a better place, and that is much more fulfilling than any other philosophy I've tried to adopt.

I can question Him all I want, but there is no way for me to get answers directly as far as I know. If I "received an answer", I would still have to believe that the source was divinely inspired, which would create a loop. Essentially, my faith is based on my personal desire and not external evidence that it is what I should believe. I don't care what others, including other Christians think of my beliefs. This is what I choose to believe.
