Christmas comes early: Ukrainian church allows December 25 celebrations for first time

In other words, nothing bad is happening, just an open invitation to use the calendar known to have been in use since 336 AD. Some may not know that Christmas, the most important of the three annual feasts of Christians, is celebrated on December 25 because on that day there was a Roman festival in honor of Mithras, the sun god. At that time, however, people tried to prevent themselves from participating in the worship of Mithras by placing Christmas on the 25th. As everyone knows, the calendar was moved several times throughout history, but not all "leaders" of groups adopted the new calendar - some avoided it in order to take advantage of what they claimed to fix their sphere of influence. Sounds familiar? Welcome.
