Lyrics:
In fourteen hundred ninety two
Columbus sailed the ocean blue and fell off of the edges of the world
And as he fell, he cursed himself
And thought of young queen Isabelle
Her laughing rattling her strings of pearls
Before he left, he smugly said,
“If the world is flat, then strike me dead”
and he took one last look at the coast of Spain.
He thought about his father, Dom and girls in school who’d done him wrong
As he dropped off of that Geometric plane
And all of Europe cried,
Christopher! Would god i’d die for thee
Christopher! another victim of that mighty sea
Across the world, they spread the word
That nobody still had heard
if Christopher had made it out alright
They conceded the seas were too rough, the search teams all had given up
Saying “Christopher Columbus surely died.”
This ordeal put the word through hell, including young queen Isabelle
Who’d watch the open seas full of despair
She prayed and prayed one day she’d wake
and find it all a big mistake
it’d been a dream and Christopher was there.
And Isabella cried,
Christopher! Would god i’d die for thee
Christopher! another victim of that mighty sea
Chris was falling past the stars
and both the blessed moons of mars
and nothing had quite turned out like he’d planned
He fell and fell and fell some more
until the falling made him bored
he didn’t know quite where, or if, they’d land
Chris knew he’d soon be dead for good
and flashed back to his childhood, the silly games he’d play when he was ten
And as the ships began to shake the fearsome jolt of twelve earthquakes,
He thought of Isabella’s face again
And his loyal crew cried,
Christopher! Would god i’d die for thee
Christopher! another victim of that mighty sea
Chris awoke with such a start
as panic hit his thumping heart cause he was lying on a rocky surface
He opened up his eyes to see the whole of Spain and Italy
Attending one large memorial service
The crowd was gasping, screaming too
to see columbus and his crew were safe inside the wreckage in a pile
They’d somehow found their way back home
and crashed upon the streets of Rome
and Isabella stood there with a smile
And Isabella cried:
Christopher! Tell me all about your trip and then…
Christopher! Promise me you’ll never sail again!
