Getting desperate for ideas here but.... you said the recovery worked for about an hour. Did you possibly do a sync of old cloud browser settings/extensions etc during that hour? (I believe it prompts you do so at intial install.) If so, you just MIGHT want to retry the restore and go without syncing when it first comes up and see if it MIGHT work better unchanged. This site shows your current synced data in the cloud (which can be deleted there):

Maybe better to try the Google Community Gurus (or the Samsung people) if no better ideas are forthcoming on this subreddit post:

Or maybe Google 'uses for old Chromebooks' e.g. install Linux distro, use as trade in with new purchase at BestBuy (when they offer such a promotion) etc.
