Yep, they do it in print, tv, and podcasts. Local journalism has been the most fair.

My opinion is that they have chosen their favourites, and are skeptical of Pete due to his age and experience. There is also some low-key homophobia at work here, and I don't even think the journalists and pundits are conscious of it. Most people do not spend the time to reflect on their straight privilege, especially when society barely acknowledges the privilege associated with being white and male. People say that they're totally okay with a gay candidate, but don't think other Americans will vote for him. Obama had to deal with the same type of prejudice.

I fully believe that Pete is capable of turning these skeptics into believers, but it will take time. In the meanwhile, it is up to his supporters to sell Pete to our friends and family.
