Church in crisis as only 2% of young adults identify as Church of England. Affiliation to national religion hits record low, with biggest drop seen in 45 to 54 age group

Eh. I’m a little sad. Due to its violent past against the Anglican Church, Catholic Churches and catholic schools in England remain the most progressive I’ve ever come across. I figure since they know they’re a minority’s and the head of the Anglican Church is a national figurehead, it really forced them to keep on their toes, so our religious education was pretty well balanced and emphasized history and historical context along with the Bible.

Living in the US now where the church’s biggest competitor is evangelical Protestantism and the church tries to keep up by matching crazy for crazy, I worry about what this will mean for English Catholicism.

When Catholicism goes without a progressive rival, we get real medieval real quick.
