Cincy Fire Union Wants Bulletproof Vests For All Firefighters

The proposal comes after a March incident where a Northside man fired shots at firefighters who were doing a welfare check at this home. He told police he thought someone was trying to break-in.

They're only effective when being worn and they're not going to be worn on every call. It's just not realistic to wear a vest on every check the welfare (quoted above), seizure, and house fire. It's not the active shooter or assault or psych calls that are risky. Instead, it's the routine incidents that are unnerving. Unless they're worn on every call, their value is greatly diminished.

How many of you will wear a vest just driving back from a fire, responding on a routine medical call, or going to the grocery store?

Spend your time and money learning and practicing situational awareness and self defense. Prevent the need of the best by avoiding the need of a vest.
