The City of London Corporation has published the headline results of its #GenderIdentity survey. Over 21,000 people took part and the results indicate significant support (between 81-65%) for #trans inclusion. Full results and policy proposals follow in December.

i would be wary of the reliability of results that arise from any voxpop type polling (if that's how this was done). the oscar wilde quote 'give a man (or woman) a mask and he (she) will tell you the truth' applies. this is why all the brexit polling was so way off.

few people have the sincerity or front to openly admit in high-traffic public spaces that they are sexist, racist, homophobes/transphobes, antisemetic, whatever it is.
most will give whatever they know to be the 'ideal' accpetable and reasonable reply, to make themself them look good in public. keeping up appearances (after 'moaning but doing nothing') is the british national sport. but on election day in a private voting booth, they will dropo their guard and vote in line with their private prejudices.

add to that the twist that those candidates who feel their values to be most acceptable and virtuous will always be keenest to put themselves forward for scrutiny, while the dodgy f*ckers (whose opinions will usually reveal far more about the true state of the nation) will quickly shuffle past and not want to get involved.

so (sorry to be the cynic in the room) but dependent on the exact methodology used in this poll, public polls are often a blunt instrument.
