City Skyline of Brussels at night. I hope you like it

Oh, I couldn't tell you had used Lightroom!

Guess that makes it a good editing job and where the blue came from :P

You know, one reason I stick to film photography is because it made me think a lot more about taking photos, since so much effort had to go into producing them and the results weren't instant - there was no 2nd chance to check and retake.

After a while, it becomes easier to figure out how much of the frame to fill with subject and to get the image straight, in focus, etc... Here is an old "cityscape" that makes use of the rule of thirds - you can almost see the dividing lines, and because of that - it is a better photo than it might have been: http://imgur.com/1B7aGbY

Here is another one that fills the whole view with city: http://imgur.com/j42vyVU Even though it is not entirely straight - because of the proportions and angles, it appears to be better than it otherwise would have been...

Eventually, you will start to see anything in a way that appears pleasing to the eye - simply by bearing in mind simple rules (and learning to operate the camera): http://imgur.com/EoAm0bu

This is the closest thing I can find to how you had your picture - with the subject in front of the cityscape - notice how it is big and fills most of the frame: http://imgur.com/M81foxy

But with photoshop and whatever... I always go crazy and end up editing the photo sometimes til it is not like a photo at all :P http://imgur.com/UIreq3s

This one is probably one of the least photo-looking photos that I ever took into photoshop, "to clean up"...

It still loosely follows that "rule of thirds", though... Note the height of the skyline, how the subject fills the centre, and the colours are not really edited, because it was colourful enough already :)

This rule is one of the first things to learn in photography, I think. You can't break rules until you know what they are ;)

(as this easy to read article explains: http://digital-photography-school.com/rule-of-thirds/)

Keep at it!
