[Claim] To not do due diligence on the possibilities of plant consciousness is hypocritical if you're vegan

What is this claim based off of?

I would recommend the second link that I posted if you'd like to read up on it further, but we truly don't know the extent of how plants feel pain or how it relates to their potential sentience. All we know is that they do respond to pain, both with how they behave in the physical world, and how their sort of "brain signals" respond.
