If you REALLY want to immerse yourself, stay with locals rather than fancy hotels.

Visit some of the far out atolls. Stay for at least a few weeks. Huahine is more primitive--visit archeological sites where they did human sacrifices. Beautiful Island. Watch the darn mosquitoes, sheeesh.

Bora Bora is really really nice--you won't want to leave. Josy = amazing artist on the island. Go marlin fishing. Richard has a huge catamaran.

Moorea is where I spent much of my time. Rent a motorcycle and tour the island.

If you are a dude, Tahitian women just LOVE American men and they are happy to sex you up constantly and incessantly.

Get a tattoo while you are there. There's a good pizza place on Moorea. They put interesting things on their pizza.

The people are so pure. You will like the scenery but you will absolutely fall in love with the people.
