Classic Twilight Zone horror that still scares: "I am the Shadow Man, and I will never harm the person under whose bed I live."

This episode begs analysis: something terrible is concealed in Danny's childhood bedroom, shadowy but familiar, powerful but also "not real" (as of the friends puts it). Danny's bargain with this force keeps him safe but puts everyone close to Danny at risk (though not his own family-- Danny's force sneaks out the window and is never directed toward those in the house, as if families are sacred). Danny feels disconnected from the violence that's been unleashed on his community, and he exploits a culture of fear in order to dominate his peers and achieve power in his relationships with women. His only sin is overconfidence.

This reads like a serial killer's fantasy.
