Clean your room meme

There's a lot packed into the saying. The most relevant to me is the level of a basic competency test. He sees so many young people wanting to change the world and suggests, that simply first they manage the task of keeping a clean room. Yes, it's basically grandpa level trolling, but there's a serious kernel of truth in it. How can you make the world better when you cannot even master and order the incredibly small physical space that you inhabit.

From there you extrapolate to everything you know you should be doing but aren't. Then once you are moving from simply improving yourself all the way to mastering yourself, you can move on to more complex domains of interaction.
