Stop voting for people that earn money destroying the planet. Vote for people that want to cost us all money by not destroying the planet instead. Disregard anyone who tells you not to vote against individuals with a proven record of exploiting natural resources for money, and those that fail to support political ends that benefit those natural resources. If one of your representatives supports your local oil industry, work to oust them from your government. If your representatives support taking economic hits to support the biosphere, support them.

At the moment this is most likely the only thing you can actually do to help in any significant way.
