Cloud Imperium Financials for 2019

That’s a bad way to look at things. Look at something like Cyberpunk 2077. (Everyone groan in unison)

The crunch, the failed launch (particular the seizures), and the withdrawal of information to fans. Maybe 2 years down the line bugs will be fixed and they’ll add proper features where there aren’t any, or go Todd and add modding support so the community can fill in the empty shell, but you have to hold on to the negativity in some capacity.

For CIG, it’s important because they have failed essentially every projected expectation. The community is the biggest way to hold a company accountable when it comes to how projects are managed. Of course us criticizing the game won’t release it any faster, but the community keeps falling for new ships even though it’s demanding new features. I fear that the people who have invested too much are zealots that disregard proper criticism, which is far more dangerous to the development than calling it a scam at face value.

If we go, well the 10 year wait was too long, there was no trust built in the community, or we try to ignore the predatory marketing tactics, but at least the game is fun. I hope that people won’t think it would be worth it to continue trusting the company. A lot of members of this community on both sides need to think about how bad the division is in the community and how this is not a constant in other game communities to this degree.
