CMV: Artificial conception for infertile or homosexual couples is a thoughtless waste of money that should be used to help raise adopted children

People underestimate how shitty special needs can be for parents. I have shit hearing. Someday I'll grow up and get a real job and live alone and my parents will die and I'll be okay and I'll live.

But a while back it wasn't so easy. Driving to and from and paying for said speech therapy. Attending case conferences every year. Fretting over every ear infection. Talking to all the right doctors with schedule that might not line up with yours. Making sure everything works just right at school because they do a shit job helping their students with problems. Making sure your kid doesn't freak out in a loud restaurant because 4 year olds don't understand how it all works.

That can't be easy. You have to know a lot to do it right. You have to know how the school system works. You have to be educated just to do this really. No one ever talks about that aspect. How you have to stand up and say no put my kid in that class or no don't do this or do that. You have to be vigilant and call if there is a problem because kids, all kids, are too stupid to do this on their own.

You have to know that this kid will never be totally normal and will never do some normal things. And you have to tell this kid as it grows up and realizes it has problems that those problems aren't going away even though the kid doesn't understand them.

But I'm easy. Some kids grow up and you worry about them the rest of your life and I don't think the average parent is up for me and is certainly not up for the worse cases be they physical or mental.

We all know to look for a good doctor when we're sick. But what makes a good speech therapist? What makes a good physical therapist or a good psychologist for your kid?
