CMV: Banning Porn Outright is Obviously a Bad Idea, but more should be done to keep children from finding internet porn.

Blaming the parents is naive.

Well, they're the only one who can ensure their 8yo doesn't stumble across a video of people getting their throats cut.. I feel like a lot of people have lamentably small knowledge on the topic of internet and what kind of shit it can offer us (and not just the older generations), so they're not as cautious. I'm no IT person either, but I belong to early 00's generation, have always liked digging into stuff, plus my a bit older parents never really monitored what I do online, and I think that if some parents knew what I'd found, they'd be damn careful about what their children are up to. At 12 I saw videos of people getting brutally beheaded, lynched, burned to death, torturing animals, practising the weirdest kinks (yup, that's the kind of content anyone can come across online, and the only thing stopping them is a question "Are you 18+?" that no one gives a flying fuck about), and read about stuff like Daisy's destruction.. I mean, I don't think it has affected me, it's not like anything had happend to me, there are kids who actually lived through that shit.. But people of my age are of the last ones that weren't raised on smartphones, social medias etc (at least not in my ex-commie country), so idk what are the odds of younger kids accessing it nowadays. Anyway, I went a bit off topic.. The point is, I think parents should be the responsible ones in this, but they would need to be more aware of all the gore out there and how easily accessible it is first.
