the saying that everyone is a little racist is based on the fact that real mean racism that indicates a cruel and callousness and a moral deficiency is in fact rare.

its perfectly possible to be fully convinced of the superiority of ones own race without having an ounce of meanness in ur bones. its just a cultural capital from a bit older time when pride in ones own people and suspicion of other groups was the basic building blocks of peoples worldview.

urban life has totally rubbed that away so racism has to be hunted for in superficial stereotypes than as someones full fledged belief. this isn't really an indictment of ones character since a common language to talk about the differences of people, even if it can tend to be course, will never go away.
