In every example that you gave, crying would be a sign of weakness. This is especially true of a man, who I agree should be in control of his emotions.

That said, I think there are times when it is acceptable for men to cry. If something happens to you that would cause strong emotion in a healthy and reasonable person, it would show greater weakness to try to bury and deny that emotion. Some people turn to alcohol or some other vice to cope with negative emotion. That shows a lot less self control than crying.

You may not be religious, but still consider who the archetypal strong man is in western culture, Jesus Christ. The shortest verse in the Bible is simply this "Jesus Wept."
