I'm referring to an earlier special - I think it was the smaller club set of the two-parter.
I was taken aback by the vitriol in what he said, it was just so clearly not coming from a good place.
This special was totally different from that - he completely hid that hate and venom to try to make a "social justice" point.
But even his social justice point is totally misguided.
"It's ok to shoot a nigger but don't hurt a gay person's feelings".
This is not a zero sum game and in fact, black transgender people face a huge amount of violence because of the deep-seeded feelings that exist in the black community (and that Chapelle clearly feels himself).
He's not bridging any gaps with this nonsense.
