CMV: Drawing Mohammad for no other reason than Muslims don't want you too is no different than saying nigger for no other reason than black people don't want you to.

When we draw Mohammad it is saying you are less than human in much the same sense you think nigger says that to blacks.

I respectfully disagree entirely with this. When people draw Mohammad it is saying, "You're not more human than us, and your rules are not enforceable on the world as a whole."

Do I go around drawing Mohammad and shoving it in peoples faces? No, I think it's rude and I try to treat my Muslim neighbors with respect, but I understand the sense of pride in rebellion involved with the fighting of censorship. I think people of all religions need to realize that their religion is NOT going to be a globally enforced set of law, but instead is a personal belief that they should hope others will follow by their own volition.

Its not enough we try and conquer them but we look into their holy book for things that we can do to specifically offend them.

I completely understand this point, I think that if we want to affect real change in the world, we need to do it with compassion. Dehumanizing someone is going to make an enemy, not convince someone that they should listen to or respect you. However, as I said before I think there are times when rebellion needs to take hold to push past some harmful views held within some sects of the religion, hopefully catching on with a large enough portion of the youth to make a change.

Edit: ∆ As of writing this my view was changed. I think that drawing Muhammad is something that can be seen as a good act of rebellion, but an outsider doing it is just going to make people mad. It's something that could be affective for people growing up in repressive cultures to help the youth start to push back against censorship, but like the N word, you're a dick if you're using it as someone who isn't part of the culture just to make people mad. Also, like the N-word, it shouldn't be illegal to do anywhere, but it doesn't mean you're not a jerk if you do it. This is only applying to people drawing Muhammad STRICTLY to make people mad, I think people have every right to draw him or put him in anything as long as it's actually for an artistic purpose.
