CMV: Gun control debate should not revolve around mass shootings

This is a very cynical stance on the issue, that I somehow hear often in these kind of discussions. Following your logic we don't need to find cures for diseases that kill or affect only very few people. Does this seem like a good point of view to have? If we can reduce any causes of deaths we should do so, no exceptions. And in this case it's not even that you have to make expenses for the research (like for a terminal disease).

Mass shootings affect a lot more people than just the people who are shot. In a school shooting for example, the whole school including their families will probably be traumatised to some extent. You ignore how many people are mentally affected by a mass shooting. It is very cruel, violent and terrifying. I also don't quite understand how you expect affected people to react to a mass shooting then. What is your proposal to change something regarding mass shootings, if not stricter gun laws that have an immediate effect?
