CMV: Higher education is imploding all over the world because so many believe that language does not matter.

Damn dude it felt like you were trying to show of your vocabulary to make a point. Like you’re trying to stretch out each sentence to be as long and needlessly filled with spicy vocabulary. You’re not smarter than everyone else. You like the English language; that’s awesome. Some people like computer science and that’s awesome. You come off as super condescending and like someone if I were to talk to in real life I’d wanna roll my eyes at constantly.

I also disagree with your superfluously written main concept from my own subjective experience writing research papers and essays at my university. I don’t feel like we need stricter grading systems and I don’t think we are getting to lax. That’s just my subjective opinion, as yours is yours. I think intelligence is expressed in many different ways, and writing essays is one example but not the only one with which to measure intelligence or knowledge within a niche field. I’ve met some quiet ass smart people who write very simply. I’ve met idiots who try to stretch their words to seem more competent than they are. There’s so many issues in the world right now and language is evolving so quickly in this century that I don’t think it’s helpful to focus that hard on one aspect of the academic experience
