CMV: It is immoral to exhume mummies/skeletons for display in museums

I think your view is reasonable and makes sense, though I don't share it.

My view is that the living are vastly more important than the dead in every way. With recently deceased people, they still have friends and family - living people - whose comfort must be considered. But the dead body itself is no more worthy of respect than an empty seashell or condemned house; somebody once lived in it, but that person is not there anymore.

With somebody who died a very long time ago, there aren't any living individuals who can be hurt by displaying the bodies in a museum. On the other hand, the people who are currently alive can benefit greatly from seeing mummies in a museum.

Because that's how I view it, I have to admit that I don't value your desire not to have your body displayed in a few thousand years. The way I see it, your feelings only matter for as long as you exist to have them. Then the feelings of your loved ones will matter. Then, when all of you are gone, none of your feelings will matter.

It doesn't sound very nice, and I might be a complete asshole, but that's how I weigh these things.
