I get the same impression. A lot of people see it as them "hating women" (see the other posters in this thread), but as someone who's been through clinical depression, I can tell you that anger is really an outward manifestation of self-hatred. People who are OK with themselves don't act the way that incels do.

I remember that during my darkest days, I wished a meteor would strike the planet and wipe out all of humanity. I had no rational reason to dislike nearly 7 billion people I had never even met, but that's the kind of thinking that depression can instill in you, and I see it in the writings of incels.

The problem is that we now have internet communities that encourage them to go further down the rabbit hole rather than acknowledge that they need help.
