CMV: Insurance isn't worth it.

That's all well and good IF insurance companies honestly cared about protecting their customers' investments. An insurance adjuster's job is basically to find the reason the insurance company doesn't have to pay out. Which leaves the customer in an at least inconvenient and at worst downright dangerous situation. If you need examples, I live in Florida. We get hurricanes every year. A hurricane's favorite snack is the roof of an average Joe's home. It's not uncommon to go through 2 or 3 more hurricane seasons still waiting for insurance to say "ok fix the roof" from the hurricane that decided your roof looked tasty.

Plus, when your insurance is paying to protect others (like the basic required car insurance in the US does) and the person who screws up forgot to make last month's payment, you end up being the one paying for your own care and repairs.
