It's native birth rate is plummeting because men spend their entire early life focusing on school and work. And women no longer want to stay at home so they too focus on their career.
Yes, but they still enforce a managed migration policy. Overall, it is still a very homogenous population.
It has one of the highest suicide rates in the world because of the stress endured by students and workers.
Suicide is a natural phenomena. Whilst this is tragic on a personal level, suicide can actually benefit the populace in the long run because only those mentally strong will reproduce. Yeah, I understand it's immoral but on a biological and evolutionary level it can be beneficial.
Their education is almost entirely based on fact repetition rather than critical thinking and problem solving which is great for programmers and similar jobs, but almost completely falls apart when it comes blue-collar work. Hence why manual labour jobs and skilled labour are almost entirely done by those who exist outside of what Japan projects to the world. They simply don't show the immigrants, the people who left school, etc who fill these positions.
Still one of the best education systems in the world.
