CMV: Maternity and Paternity leave should both be mandatory and equal in all aspects

It's just not a question of "need", it's a right as a father. You may have all the help with the baby and new routines but wouldnt you want to be present for your child and spouse?

For me the parental right of having maternity/paternity leave is an opportunity to have quality time with your new family, to bond, to make attachment patterns, to care for your baby. It's true women should need more time because they have to phisically heal from pregnancy and birth and there are some things only the mother can do (as breastfeed). But if we continue to give much less time to the fathers, we are also contributing to maintain the inequality of rights and "duties" of genres and parents. The baby should have both mother and father care for them equally and for the government/employes to allow that.
