CMV: Modern medicine is not advanced enough for people to change their gender. (Yet)

Being stuck between the two in an uncanny and unconvincing result.

Your complaint seems to be just that trans aren't convincing?

First, you should note that you might have an unreasonable standard for how manly men tend to look. There are plenty of non-trans men that naturally just don't look all that much like men. While I'll grant you that trans men don't always look 100% like a man, they can often look more like a man than some non-trans men out there. Even if the average trans man doesn't make it to 100% looking like a man, as long as they look more like a man than a woman, they're in a territory that some actual men are already in.

But that is just average trans. If you google images of passing trans, you'll find a lot of examples of trans that really do look 100% like their desired gender.

You only really notice the transgender people that are in an uncanny result and don't even notice ones that do successfully pass because you don't realize they're trans at all. So out of the people you recognize as trans, yes, they'll tend to do worse, but there are people that you simply don't recognize as trans and so aren't being included in your sample of what trans people typically look like.

Finally, transitioning takes time. It can take around 5 years to reach the maximum effect. Hormone treatments takes time. This creates a group of people that don't do a great job passing just yet, but will more successfully pass later on. Again, this gives you a diminished estimation of how well transgender people can pass by viewing people that are early or still part way through the process.
