CMV: the n-word is over-policed

Sorry, but I don’t click links. I’d advise you to do the same. But what makes you think that’s the actual reason? I don’t buy that, because I’ve had this same conversation with my family countless times as a child. I wondered why we could say it but white people couldn’t. Why can’t white people say it? “Because it’s racist”…so why do we say it? “Because we can”.

A common mistake is to believe that every single person thinks as deeply into these things as you do. That applies to almost everything. And that’s true if you go to rallies and diversity meetings. They’re the active ones. But the average person on the street does it because it’s the norm. It’s what they saw growing up.

And the ones who have an actual explanation are rarely logically consistent. At least from the conversations I’ve had. I’m not saying you or your sources are wrong. But when you talk to the average person who isn’t within the politically and socially active circles, the commonly held beliefs and explanations aren’t so common anymore. Like I said before, it’s just a socially enforced double standard as far as I can see.
