CMV: A national firearm registry is not a hot idea

where guns would be intrinsically tied to their owner so they could be tracked if they were used in a crime.

Few issues, how do you register all guns, do you go house to house or on a trust based system? Not everyone would regrester it. Would this give cops right to go onto private land to check if a visiable gun is regrester?

I regrester my gun, I get a really good offer from a criminal I sell it to him and report the gun stolen; what does it matter if the gun is tied to me. Even if the gun is found on the scene.

3d printed guns?

Not to mention some illegal guns are made without identification.

It just seems like a thing that targets well intentioned legal gun owners while failing to regulate any criminal act.
