CMV: The overwhelming majority of people would have a better quality of life if radical left politics where in power.

It’s an historical fact, the Russian Revolution faced big external pressure from the rest of Europe and other attempted revolutions to join the movement (which was part of the necessary steps according to its thinkers) were fiercely murdered by the rulers in Europe.

When you say that the ideology itself is wrong because based on a Government running everything, I have to disagree because Marx or even Lenin, both wanted the abolition of the State.

Gulags is a term encompassing way too many things but let’s just simplify and say that this was forced labour for prisoners. It’s clear that too many people perished there but it’s especially true during the war, a very particular context. I’m not sure the US jail system is considerably better if you put it in the actual context of things (with how laws target some citizens especially and with the fact that slavery is basically allowed there).

Concerning the Chinese Revolution, we speak about someone who read a very badly translated version of Marx works and then dumbed it down (to my knowledge), I’m not sure it’s the best example we have of Communism.

And finally, I don’t think we should forget the importance in the western world ‘domination’ of taking advantage of foreign ressources and labor for free for a very long period of time (still ongoing in some non free ways).
