CMV: PC gaming is best gaming

  1. Split screen gaming fits a niche. But some PC games have better implementation of massively multiplayer for people who play into ques or lobbies with strangers and the people you befriend through the game or friends outside of it can easily play together. LoL/Starcraft pretty much any PvP game and ARPGs such as Marvel Heroes/Path of Exile/Diablo 3 and etc. So I really feel like this point is just preference.

  2. Don't really have an opinion on this point as most of the games I play atm are FTP (LoL/Path of Exile) that don't offer competitive advantage with money and only mainly cosmetic features.

So I guess really my final argument would be that as with many things, what is better is what you eventually considered to be ideal for you.

I grew up playing pretty much only consoles. Was a young 90s kid (born 1990) and was a pleb young kid playing PS1 being a noob at PS1 games. Played Gameboy and Pokemon consumed my life as a kid with me and my friends. Playstation 2 come out and I was just about to hit my teens and it's what I remember most of my gaming life. Playing Madden, so many RPGs that I could talk for hours about my experiences with them. But eventually this went ouf of favor as I got older. I was exposed to PC gaming by my dad.

I played Diablo 1 and 2 and Civilizations in 01-03 and it changed my outlook on gaming forever. The feeling I got from Diablo 2 was the greatest fulfillment I ever got from a game. From the experience of playing it offline and then realizing there was an entire new world of content of playing it online with other people made me realize of a lot I was missing out on. Before my multiplayer experience was with my friends and online play with consoles wasn't really fully explored yet. It's one thing PC gaming was ahead of consoles for so long on.

And playing consoles eventually phased out. I got my own PC and there was no motivation to play or buy the new consoles. Last console I had was an Xbox 360 and I only played a few games on it. But I played Diablo 2 consistently from 03 all the way to 2010 and every now and then when I go on a nostalgia trip, I play around for a little bit.

Also another thing for me that kind of scares me off for consoles is big RPG games ultimately I don't feel like it's worth my investment. I could play RPG games on PC and then enter the world of modding for that game such as Skyrim.

And for me, I'm less concerned with the home or local aspect of the game itself and more concerned with the online play of a game which I feel PC gaming has the leg up on consoles. So if someone told me they aren't a online or PvP type a person with preference to games, then I could very much understand the reason for consoles. But the online experience and depth for PC gaming is what is my preference.
