CMV:Reddit's recent support of Iran and it's nuclear program is more about a 'stand up to Israel' circlejerk than actual support for Iran.

First of all, what makes you call Iran "an unstable regime"? You didn't explain that, and maybe you have a distorted view of Iran.

But on to the point. A relevant fact is that both America's and Israel's intelligence agencies don't believe that Iran is actually developing nuclear weapons. Secondly, because Iran is a party to the NPT, they have certain rights that America and Israel want to deprive Iran of. Netanyahu has stated Iran should not have any nuclear capabilities, regardless whether it's peaceful. Obviously, a clear violation of Iran's rights under international law. Obama has acknowledged that this is unrealistic and instead wants to impose unique "intrusive inspection measures" on Iran, regardless of whether Iran adheres to the NPT. This is also a violation of the NPT, because the NPT explicitly states that "Nothing in this Treaty shall be interpreted as affecting the inalienable right of all the Parties to the Treaty to develop research, production and use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes without discrimination and in conformity with Articles I and II of this Treaty."

It is possible that Iran is developing paranuclear capacity, meaning that they want to have the technological capability to assemble nuclear weapons in a short period of time, but the problem is that the NPT does not actually forbid this. If it did, Japan, which has had paranuclear capabilities for decades, would also have to be punished. Has anyone suggested this?

Simply put, what America and Israel, two powerful, aggressive nuclear states, want to do to Iran is illegal, hypocritical and immoral.
