Online dating ratios are not real life. When Ashley Madison was punked, it was revealed that 95% of their female user profiles were fake. Even on legit dating apps (not hook up apps), it's going to skew towards men. Men need to come to terms with the fact that OLD is a business, and the purpose of a business is to make money. And they make money by leading lonely thirsty men on.

What you're right about:

IRL, it will still skew towards men -- not nearly as much as OLD -- but on any given day in any given place more men will be seeking women than the reverse. As long as men want sex/women more than reverse, this will be the case.
