So, let's say the company is greedy. If they are all equal, than the company can just do purely random choice for their decision and it's fine. (the choices are by definition equal.)

However, your assertion is that all three are equal, but then you say that Bob has contributed more to the company. That's a contradiction.

On the other hand, if all three are equally qualified (ie have the same output, work experience, etc), then it seems the people who worked a few weeks less time would be better workers, since they had less time to be "equally qualified".

The point being, there are several ways this could be analyzed due to a the premise being a little spotty.
