CMV: There is no excuse for having transparent computer screens in futuristic sci-fi movies like Minority Report and Avengers.

I've always shared the exact same thought as the OP.

And none of these answers provide a good reason to use these kinds of screens - they would simply be too horribly distracting to use.

Even the Augmented Reality defense is poor as that would only make sense with a portable device. Minority report, Star Trek Picard, and others don't use these as AR devices - only as a way to look 'futuristic' without paying heed to functionality. For instance, in Star Trek Picard, when they are on a 'facetime' type call through these screens, if the idea is that someone can stand behind the conversation and view it from the other side, it's completely distracting between the face of the person in the room and the one on the screen.
