CMV: Trump is seriously damaging the integrity of our Democracy

trump was elected as a republican, not democrat. there is no expectation of him to act like one. im generalizing greatly, but the core of the republican party is “we will handle it ourselves.” they dont want other people telling them what they can and cant do. the US is considered a federal republic. the federal aspect considers democratic policy, whereas the republic aspect considers individual/states rights to govern thenselves. in order for a true democracy, you would need strong democratic leadership from local to state across the nation. this just isnt feasible because there is no way to enforce federal policy equally across the board, hence why some states can allow felony possession of controlled substances, while others enforce the legislation. to change your view, i am suggesting fallacy in your belief that USA is a democracy, trump is doing what the people who voted for him wanted, and the system is working as intended. any disbelief is due to personal ideologies, not systemic faults of the democratic institutions.
