CMV: Ukraine should not have won the Eurovision Song Contest

It's obvious because of the discrepancy in points given. Also the discourse around Ukraine and Eurovision was about supporting Ukraine whereas there was very little talk about the song itself. Supporting Ukraine also has become "the popular thing to do" now. They're all factors that make it count.

I'm not saying that the song wouldn't have reached the top 10 without the war. It's not a bad song and it borrowed a lot of elements from last year's successful song. But just like in 2016, they won with pity points because back then it was a song about the crimean tatars and making implicit connections to the seizure of crimea. Again, everybody knew it was political and the discourse about the actual song did not match the score it got.

And it's also a bit/lot of common sense. We can all play dumb and act like "well technically we don't know the reason unless we conduct a peer reviewed study" but we all know why it happened.
