CMV: The world loves to see men get hurt

Shows like Jackass on MTV had a huge following when I was growing up. They went on to make huge blockbuster movies where people get to laugh at men getting hurt.

The Jackass guys clearly love what they're doing, and have an amazing time. Yes, it's funny to watch them get hurt, but only because they're clearly enjoying it as well. It wouldn't be funny to see a guy step off a curb and get hit by a bus.

SNL has a regular bit where people rip on Colin Jost.

Colin Jost is a wildly successful multi-millionaire celebrity married to Scarlett Johansen, with the face of a douchey frat bro. He's clearly in on the joke (he literally named his autobiography A Very Punchable Face) and it is clear he's not "hurt" by these jokes. It's his brand of comedy.

Celebrities now have boxing matches that make 100s of millions as their "haters" want to see them knocked out.

Again, this is about consent. Nobody is forced to be a famous boxer, and successful boxers clearly love the thrill and competition of it, or they wouldn't go through the trouble.

I contend that women's fights receive less viewership not because of support but because people don't want to see them get hurt.

This doesn't add up, because all women's sports get lower viewership, including basketball and soccer, where athletes rarely get seriously hurt.

Men receive 4-5 times the criminal sentencing for the same crimes as women(even non violent crimes).

This is a valid point.

Centers for domestic violence are everywhere for women, while there's only a handful for men.

Also a valid point.

Christianity is even based around a man being a martyr. Where Mary is a pure innocent virgin.

Jesus Christ is probably the singular most beloved man on earth. He's literally worshipped by billions of people. I don't they people are Christians because they're like, "We love seeing Jesus nailed to that cross! It's so funny and entertaining, just like Jackass!"
