CMV: Your Sexuality Is A Choice

No clearly not.

Can you choose to enjoy any activity you pick up? Could you pick up ice fishing right now and have as much fun as you do playing video games? How about playing clarinet? Wilderness survival? Martial arts? Watching paint dry? You could choose to make those all equally pleasurable experiences?

If I could master multiple skills and they were useful hell yeah I'd pick it up but I wouldn't live long enough for that to even remotely happen. Fuck life and it's stupid rules about growing old and dying. lol

Has there never been a moment in your life when you tried doing something and wanted to enjoy it, but couldn't force yourself to like it?

Depends on how useful I find it to be.If it's not useful, don't care about it. I decide if I find it useful.

Addiction is hereditary. You might not like the same things, but chances are if you have an addiction to something, it runs in the family.

Hey I like other things and sometimes I get bored of those things. Im not an addict. You trying to insult me?

Your desire to help others is innate to the human experience, with the exception of a few sociopaths. You may or may not also have an above average genetic predisposition for empathy/curiosity/agreeableness/a strong stomach, a bunch of traits that may set you up to find the profession of a doctor attractive. That's the genetic component. There is also an environmental component. The status our society awards doctors, the financial incentives, belonging to a socioeconomic class where that pursuit is realistic, possible influences from friends/family/mentors, portrayals in the media, and of course all those personality traits I mentioned earlier that may be sparked by environment rather than genetics. These are things that you did not choose, but they affected you, and they affect what you like.

Innate? Some people don't wanna help others. So someone is a socio-path if they don't wanna help people. Well, never mine, I wanna actually go into genetic engineering and manipulate life.

Becoming a doctor is a choice you make, indulging the desire is your choice, but the actual desire to be a doctor is outside of your control.

The actual desire to become a doctor is out of my control? Who decides that? Can you really say that to people? That you aren't them and you decide whether or not their desires was there's and not some genetic stuff?

I say it's a choice. If you wanna be one, be one man. Your choice.

Yeah. You don't have the biological capacity to enjoy having your nails hammered in under your toenails. It's not in the human genome to find that kind of experience enjoyable. You cannot choose to like it.

What if I did find it enjoyable? What if I used this as a form of training to increase my pain tolerance? Im sure there are people who would fidn that enjoyable, masochists.

That . nail stuff not being part of the human genome? I like that, I assume those people are above their biology and that them liking those things weren't selected for in biology. Well then, if this is the case, this would mean not everything that we enjoy is not all partially genetic. You back-peddling now?
