Considering who has the most to benefit from a fake bomb showing up at CNN... it would be the worst most by far for anyone trying to support the right.

So far it has sold the idea that the right is resorting to violence. It's garnered sympathy for the left.

It hasn't actually caused any fear, or even harm to any individual, because all of the packages were pretty obviously meant to be discovered and none have posed a real threat, so that objective is out.

Currently the whole situation has been nothing but a boon for the left. Also, the extreme right wingers that would typically be out to do harm usually aren't shy about it, and would have made some kind of statement of intent or at least given an ultimatum. So far nobody has said anything and the left is in the spotlight as brave victims.

I don't like to speculate on peoples intentions, but when one party is clearly benefiting from what ended up being a "nothing incident", it's hard to swallow.
